Before Harley-Davidson became famous for heavyweight motorcycles, William S. Harley was already exploring ways motorcycle engineering could be put to work.
Filed in 1913 and granted April 14, 1914, U.S. Patent No. 1,092,910 shows William S. Harley's design for a Three-Wheel Truck.
The patent illustrates an ingenious idea: adapting a motorcycle with two front wheels, a supporting frame and a cargo body to create a practical commercial vehicle.
