Founded in 1874, the Excelsior Motor Company was known for producing some of the most powerful and innovative motorcycles of its time.

The Excelsior motorcycle was first introduced in 1896, with a 2.25 hp engine and a top speed of 30 mph. Over the years, the company continued to innovate and improve its designs, producing motorcycles that were faster, more reliable, and more powerful than their predecessors.

By the 1920s, Excelsior was one of the largest motorcycle manufacturers in the world, with a reputation for producing high-quality machines that were popular with both racers and enthusiasts.

One of the most famous Excelsior motorcycles was the Super X, which was introduced in 1925. With a 45 cubic inch V-twin engine, the Super X was capable of speeds up to 100 mph, making it one of the fastest motorcycles of its time.

The Super X was also known for its reliability and durability, and was a popular choice for police departments and other government agencies.

The outbreak of World War II spelled the end for Excelsior. Like many other motorcycle manufacturers, the company was forced to switch its production to military equipment, and after the war, it was unable to recover.

The last Excelsior motorcycle was produced in 1954, and the company was dissolved soon afterward.
